A new Asian-style restaurant called Lucky Cheetah is set to take over the space previously occupied by Old Port Tavern.

The owners of “Bird & Co”, a popular Mexican restaurant located in Woodford’s Corner, William Dowd and Jared Dinsmore have started a new business venture – a full service Chinese restaurant specializing in dim sum and dumplings. The space, located at 11 Moulton Street, was previously occupied by Old Port Tavern for 50 years. They officially closed their doors on New Year’s Eve of 2022, and construction of Lucky Cheetah has been underway since the summer of 2023. Lucky Cheetah plans to open July 1st, 2024.
While the menu is not final, the version submitted to the city features dishes such as duck confit dumpling pancakes, dan dan noodle and wonton soup, and more (although this will not be exact, and likely to change). They will also have beer, wine, and liquor. Their bar program will also feature Asian inspired cocktails and beverages.
The floor plan of the nearly 5,000-square-foot space shows plans for a lounge area, booths, and bar seating for roughly 15 people. They expect to accommodate about 140 people in the newly renovated space. Right now, they plan to be open Monday-Sunday from 5-10pm.
