Friday, September 25: Grab your best 80s attire (skinny ties, neon sweaters, leg warmers and acid-washed jeans anyone?) and get ready to hit the dance floor because The Awesome are taking the stage at Portland House of Music and Events for HOME again. Tickets are just $8, order online or get ‘em at the door. 25 Temple Street, Portland.
And if you feel like venturing a little further afield, make a trip to Bubba’s Sulky Lounge, where every Friday night is 80s night on the light-up dance floor. $5 cover gets you in, or it’s free if you are decked out in 80s clothes. 92 Portland Street, Portland.
Saturday, September 26: While technically not in the Old Port, we are pretty fond of our friends at Rising Tide Brewing Company, and want everyone to know about their amazing 5th Anniversary Weekend Celebration. The party gets started at the brewery Friday from 3-7 pm with Beer & Oysters with O’ Oysters, featuring the brewery’s last keg of Tequila Mockingfish, a tequila barrel aged Gose, on draft. We are really looking forward to Saturday’s lineup, with Tasty Beats & Eats with Mosart212 & Mami Food Truck featuring Rising Tide pairings and specials from 12-7. Settle in and make a day of it! And if you can’t make it Saturday, OR just want to keep the party going, come on down for Live Music Sunday from 12-5 featuring Keanu & Vinyl Tap. There will be Rising Tide pairings and specials from CN Shawarma, plus The Maine Photo Camper will be on site from 12:30 to 3:30 if you feel like striking a pose. Mmmm. So much delicious food. So much delicious beer.
Sunday, September 27: If all that dancing and drinking got you hungry, then spend your Sunday recharging with some tasty Mexican grub. El Rayo Taqueria is tragically closing its doors on the Portland location, although you can still get your fix in Scarborough. Come help send them off in style this Sunday at the Party at El Rayo! The farewell fiesta will include drink specials, giveaways and music by Armies and The Kenya Hall Band. So round up the gang and order up some margaritas, nachos and tacos on the patio one last time as we say farewell to Portland El Rayo, and summer…
