
Portland, Maine is a playground this weekend! There’s a Women in Beer event, a family dance party, amazing music performances, and an event about the history of the Wabanaki. Grab your buddies and check it out because there’s an event for everyone!
Friday
January’s Women in Beer will be at Rí Rá from 5-9pm. This event will feature Pink Boots collaboration beers Maine breweries. Grab a beer and support women in the brewing industry!
Check out the Girls Just Want to Have Fundamental Human Rights concert at the Port City Music Hall. Local female artists will be playing Cyndi Lauper and original songs. This concert is inspired by Cyndi Lauper’s work with the True Colors Fund and Planned Parenthood. Proceeds will go to the Planned Parenthood of Northern New England as well as Maine Family Planning. There is a suggested donation of either $20 for general admission or $50 for preferred seating. The doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm. This is an all ages event.
Snag a ticket to Waitress- Broadway National Tour at Merrill Auditorium! The showtimes are Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 2pm and 8pm. Tickets start at $45, get em’ while they’re hot!
Saturday
Get excited for the Mixtape #3 family dance party at SPACE featuring a DJ, food from Noble BBQ, a performance by Singing for Memories, and an art activity inspired by sustainability. Bring some of your recycling for the activity as well as a beverage container for any drinks you may want! There is a cover charge of $8 per family.
Quiet Riot Act will be at the Porthole from 6:30-9:30pm. Stop by for acoustic rock, good food, and great drinks!
Hop over to Gritty McDuff’s and check out Hello Newman! They will be playing from 9:30pm-close!
Sunday
Grab your little ones and head to the Music of the Beatles for Kids concert at Port City Music Hall! It’s at 11:30am and tickets are just $15!
Learn about the history of colonization in Maine at this Wabanaki/Maine History event from 1-3pm. This participatory program for teens and adults is hosted by the Allen Avenue UU Social Action Committee and is free and open to the public!
Bring your child to PSO Discovery: Peter and the Wolf at Merrill Auditorium! This event is hosted by the Portland Symphony Orchestra and features the Portland Ballet. The doors open at 1pm for games, an Instrument Petting Zoo, and more! The show is designed for children ages 4-12 but can be enjoyed by all. Tickets are $10.
