Filmmaker/performer Cory McAbee (AMERICAN ASTRONAUT) returns to Apohadion Theater with his latest project, CULTURED CELL CULTURE..
Cultured Cell Culture is a live science and sci-fi multi-media presentation in the form of a lecture, which includes original music, artwork and animation created by filmmaker Cory McAbee. Topics include cell memory in cultured cell meats, monarch butterflies, agricultural reform, proactive approaches to further human evolution, Abraham Lincoln, cruelty-free cannibalism, space aliens, and people who are better than we are.
CULTURED CRLL CULTURE is the 3rd lecture series created by Cory McAbee. His first two lectures (Deep Astronomy and the Romantic Sciences and Sentimental Systems Reform) were presented live at science museums, universities, galleries, theaters, nightclubs and film festivals throughout the US, including the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, the San Francisco International Film Festival and the SF Exploratorium.
For over two decades Cory McAbee’s music and films have won awards worldwide. He has directed an eight-year global arts collaborative which concluded with the completion of a feature film. He has given lectures and masters classes on art, alternative media and the collaborative process at conferences and universities throughout the world. In September 2022 he will be launching a free-form bicycle festival which will follow monarch butterfly migration throughout the US with the cooperation and support of the Green Burial Council. McAbee is currently living in NYC where he works as a writer, actor, musician and freelance artist.
This will be the tour kick-off for McAbee’s latest project, I_BUTTERFLY, a self-guided bike tour following the summer/fall migratory path of the monarch butterfly.
