Deplasticizing Our Future
Chat and network with a quartet of women leaders using entrepreneurship and education to achieve low-waste, reduced-plastic living. They hope you’ll join them and a community of people who are committed to changing their behaviors, stopping plastic waste streams from entering the environment, and supporting innovative new ideas capable of transforming our consumption habits. Attendees will enjoy oysters from Lady Shuckers, frosty beverages and snacks, as well as a conversation with farmers and industry leaders focused on the successes and the remaining challenges associated with connecting to consumers. Earth Day Celebration at Thompson’s Point
Help clean up garbage with L.L Bean (garbage hauling kindly sponsored by Garbage to Garden and Saltwater Classroom), stop by the Children’s Museum for special Earth Day programming, head over to Rosemont Market for a wine tasting, and enjoy giveaways with Maine Community Solar! Full details here.
Earth Day Community Cleanup in Cape Elizabeth
Cape Elizabeth Land Trust & Cape Elizabeth Department of Public Works is coordinating a two-week cleanup effort on Cape’s roads, trails, and beaches. Between 4/22 & 5/1 you can participate by picking up trash around town. And join for a half-day event on 4/30 from 9AM-2PM to form groups of volunteers to do a concentrated clean-up as a community. DPW has 9 locations around town where you can drop bagged trash for pickup on 4/25 & 5/1. See full details and register here.

Community members have organized a Westbrook River Clean Up + Celebrate Trails Day event. Join in the national effort to clean up our community and celebrate trails; bring family and friends! All are welcome! Rain date is Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 9-11 am.
Earth Day Volunteering at Orchard Ridge Farm
Help the Orchard Ridge Farm in Gorham get ready for the season, there is so much to do! They need volunteers to help with weeding and cleaning up debris in the orchard, and are looking for someone with carpentry experience to help with building some portable chicken coops. Meet at 11AM! The rain date for this event will be Sunday the 24th.
Earth Saturday Clean Up and Invasive Plant Removal
Meet at 10AM under Tukey’s Bridge in Portland to help eradicate the trash and invasive plants that have built up along the water of the Eastern Prom. Portland Parks Conservancy is coordinating and asks that you RSVP so they know how many tools to bring for the clean-up.
South Portland Land Trust Citywide & Clark’s Pond Trail Clean Ups
City Wide: Join the SPLT for a citywide clean up in honor of Earth Day! There are three locations to meet up and gather your supplies, learn where to drop off trash, and head out to clean up. This is a family-friendly event, check-in starts at 9AM. See full details here and pre-register so they know how many people to expect. Rain date is Sunday, April 24.
Clark’s Pond Trail: Join the SPLT and volunteers for a moderate Trail Maintenance project at Clark’s Pond Trail at 1:30PM. Tasks will include general maintenance and spreading wood chips along the newly planted buffer area. Meet at the Home Depot kiosk and find Andrea McCall or Andy Gagnon, who are leading the project. April Volunteer Work Party at Runaway Farm
Help the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust with creating new boardwalks on the trail, clean up material’s from last season’s bridge installation, and address more invasive plants on the property. Bring your work gloves, clippers, shovels, and any other tools that could be helpful. Meet at 9AM, register ahead of time and see full details here.
Spring Clean-Up at Scarborough Marsh
The Nature Center is celebrating its 50th season and they need help getting the buildings and grounds ready. Bring nonperishable foods or store gift cards to support their partnership with Project G.R.A.C.E. and help the human inhabitants of the marsh too. Join the Maine Audubon, Friends of Scarborough Marsh, the Eastern Trail Alliance, and the Scarborough community for a day of volunteering to help make this corner of the Earth a better place! Park Cleanup @ Deering Oaks!
Join Port City Mutual Aid, the Needlepoint Sanctuary of Maine, & the Church of Safe Injection at Deering Oaks Park for a park cleanup. Attendees can also participate in harm reduction trainings and receive free lunch. Gloves, trash bags, and appropriate receptacles will be provided. Meet at 2PM across from the Post Office, RSVP here.
