Free Outdoor Empowerment Self Defense Classes
Bring water and a mask, wear clothes comfortable for movement, and invite your friends, colleagues, and family members. The class is for all ages and identities, it takes place 5:30-7PM on Western Prom between Pine and Carroll Streets.
Come build and share skills in verbal and physical self defense with Prevention Action Change. In this super interactive training they will explore and practice assertive communication, boundary setting, and de-escalation in a huge range of situations. They’ll also practice physical responses to people encroaching on our space, unwanted touch, physical threats such as grabs, and ways to manage adrenalin in the moment. While addressing serious topics and situations, this class is also super fun and built around the ethic of challenge by choice. There are many ways to participate and you decide what works for you: watch an exercise, participate in a role play, practice a grab release with or without touch. What works for you works for them.
