SCOBY is bringing their symbiotic heavy funk to Mayo Street Arts! Through a mixture of jazz, prog rock, funk, and whatever else is in the kitchen sink, they will get you tapping your foot or nodding your head.
SCOBY provides the grooves for those who love to groove, the dance for those who love to dance, and the general stank for those who just love tasty licks.
ARTIST BIO
SCOBY ( was formed out of the love for improvisational music. Drummer Troy Palmetier and guitarist Finn O’Neil met during a jam party thrown by a mutual friend, and a passion for improvisation was immediately recognized in each other. Since then they have slowly curated a musical style, falling somewhere in between progressive rock, jazz, and heavy metal. Alex Kane, younger brother of guitarist Finn, was invited along after the initial release of their EP ‘Before Common Error’, and with his addition, the trio has become a fully-fledged, progressive, heavy band capable of weaving improvisation throughout a set in a genre not typically known for its improvisational musicians.
