Western North Carolina is particularly known for a rich tradition of craft and music that stretches back hundreds of years. Hurricane Helene stormed through those mountains in late September, leaving huge parts of the area destroyed, impassable, and without basic utilities. The isolated geography that is challenging rescue workers today is deeply connected to the profuse diversity of fiddling styles that can be found in both Western North Carolina and other mountainous regions of greater Appalachia. As musicians who play this style of old-time music, our gratitude and debt to this part of the country is immense. We are hosting a series of music fundraisers to help support the communities of Western North Carolina as they work to survive and rebuild.
