The Portland Planning board approved the construction of a new 45,000-square-foot building located at 100 W. Commercial Street. The building will be used for boat storage as well as maintenance.
The property is part of the Waterfront Port Development Zone, and currently home to Maine International Cold Storage. They have acquired 12.74 additional acres from Maine Central Railroad, making the total property size 17.77 acres. They are now able to execute plans for the full-scale boat maintenance and marine activities facility. Currently, the site features a boat ramp, travel lift basin, boat yard area, and several other buildings occupied by Portland Yacht Services.
