Solid waterfront restaurant in Portland, ME. Early dinner w/ family on 10/13/2024. No frills & fresh seafood. Ordered 2 lobster rolls (offered only cold w/ mayo), lazy lobster, 1 lobster dinner & cheeseburger. We had limited time to grab dinner before ferry departure to Diamond Cove, and staff made it happen. Thank you!

When in Portland- definitely stop by here. The only downfall is that it gets extra busy when the weather is great. 😊 there is a bar outside though :) we recommend the lobster 🦞

My all-time favorite lobster roll to get whenever I'm in Portland. Great price for size/quality! They also have a delicious roasted and pickled beet salad with walnuts and goat cheese during the summertime!

Stopped for lunch and we were impressed. Service was great and we had lobster rolls, chowder, and chicken fingers paired with some local beers. All were excellent. We sat on the deck and it was a perfect afternoon. I recommend the Porthole if in Portland.

The Porthole Restaurant & Pub in Portland, ME offers a casual waterside dining experience with live music and a bustling dockside atmosphere. While the setting is enjoyable, be prepared for a long wait. We were told our wait time would be 20 minutes, but it stretched to nearly 45, even with many open tables. The explanation was that the wait was for the kitchen, not seating.Once seated, service was relatively quick. My wife ordered a Lobster Roll ($34) with a cup of clam chowder, while I had the Whole Belly Clams (MP = $34). The food arrived within 10 to 15 minutes. The clams were plump, tender, and juicy—definitely the highlight of the meal. My wife found the lobster roll tasty but lacking in lobster meat compared to what she’s accustomed to. The clam chowder was decent, but not outstanding. The ambiance of dining by the water is a big draw, but this spot feels like a tourist trap, especially when cruise ships are in port. The large crowds make it feel a bit overwhelming.
