Maine Needs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential items to Mainers in need, is gearing up for its second annual Art for Opportunity silent auction fundraiser, happening Wednesday, September 18th from 5pm – 8pm at Après in East Bayside.
The silent auction will showcase a diverse array of artwork and creations from local artists – beaded jewelry, colorful quilts, watercolors, ceramics, drawings, etc. – making it an opportunity for art lovers to acquire unique pieces while contributing to a worthy cause. The funds raised will directly support those struggling to meet basic needs, including the unhoused community, as the organization prepares for another challenging season.
This year’s event is free and open to the public, with an online bidding platform available for those unable to attend in person. Organizers say the virtual component allows for broader participation and ensures that everyone has the chance to contribute, no matter where they are located.
Maine Needs has emphasized the importance of this fundraiser in helping them continue to serve the state’s most vulnerable populations. According to organizers, last year’s event helped provide material essentials to hundreds of families, and they hope this year’s auction will have an even greater impact.
