Restaurant and cocktail bar, Free Street, has officially closed.
Opening in December 2021 in the former Binga’s Stadium space at 77 Free Street, Free Street quickly became a go-to spot for diners heading to events at the Cross Insurance Arena and Portland locals looking for a unique dining and nightlife experience.
Founded by Eli Shapiro, along with business partners Jay Town and James Duhamel, Free Street was known for its pub-style menu as well as its eclectic interior—featuring wall murals, rainbow-colored epoxy floors, taxidermy, and sculptures that gave the space its signature look. The two-level venue offered a sprawling bar and lounge on the main floor, while its basement performance space (known as The Cavern) showcased both local and national talent.
