This weekend marks the First Friday and the first weekend of December, so you know it’s going to be a good one in the Old Port with the holiday spirit on full blast.
Friday
Vena’s Holiday Parlor event begins at 2 pm at Vena’s Fizz House! Enjoy vintage cocktailware, local art, Vena’s Hot Toddies & Cocktail Infusion Kits, and live music! Electric Flora will be there arranging fresh floral designs in vintage cocktail glassware, along with plenty of other local artists showing off their labors of love. A perfect way to kick off your weekend AND your holiday season, ending at 11 pm!
The First Friday Art Walk is always a must, but ESPECIALLY when you should’ve started your holiday shopping, like, yesterday! Find yourself on Congress Street from 5-8 pm and get it done!
A Portland winter tradition! Don’t miss the lighting of the 100-year-old Copper Beech Tree in the company of poetry by Laureate Gibson Fay-LeBlanc and s’mores by The Marshmallow Cart! This event begins at 5:30 at the Portland Museum of Art.
Feast your ears on the talented Maine Youth Rock Orchestra featuring Connor Garvey, MGC, and the Dupont Brothers from 8-11 pm at the Portland House of Music & Events. Tickets are just $20 and this will be an unforgettable night of music that’s perfect for the entire family!
Saturday
The Portland Farmer’s Market wouldn’t let a little cold weather stop you from getting your fresh Maine foods each week. The Indoor Winter Market will be at the Maine Girls’ Academy each Saturday at 9 am!
Maine Academy of Modern Music will be hosting Toy To The World, their holiday toy drive at Bayside Bowl beginning at 2 pm! Tickets are $10, or just $5 if you bring an unwrapped, unopened toy for a child in need!
It wouldn’t really be holiday season in the Old Port until Santacon has commenced! Beginning at 4 pm at Pat’s Pizza, Binga’s Winga’s, Dry Dock, Lincolns & Rosie’s (see if you can ho ho hit ‘em all!), and continuing until 1 am at varying locations, wear your best holiday get-up and join in on the Santarchy.
Country fans won’t want to miss David Nail making a stop on his Fighter Tour live at Aura at 9 pm! You must be 18 or older to attend this show.
Sunday
Hungry? Need to pump out those holiday cards lickety-split, with some style? Kill two birds with one stone at the Calligraphy Brunch at the Press Hotel! This holiday-themed Sunday Brunch workshop at 10 am will teach you the basics of modern calligraphy, get you ready to add Christmas touches to your holiday cards, and be full of mimosas and pastries.
The Tidings Craft & Art Fair will be held for the 2nd year at the Ocean Gateway Pier starting at 10 am. Enjoy live music while you shop from local makers & artists, snack on local food and more!
Complimentary food & wine alert! Be at the Cellardoor Winery at the Point between 12-4 and reap the benefits of their pop-up food & wine pairings! Don Gooding will be performing Christmas Carols and Sea Bags will join in on site with their Maine made bags!
