This weekend lets party like its 1776! The Old Port is celebrating its freedom with live music, food and of course a little red, white and booze!
Start your weekend early on Thursday by going for a run in the Old Port. The Old Port Pub Run will make you feel better about all those calories you’ll be consuming this weekend. Meet us at 6:15 at Liquid Riot, don’t forget to bring your ID and grab a beer after your run! Once you’ve had a couple beers at Liquid Riot, get your tickets for the Freedom: Red, White & Booze Cruise presented by Popsickel Productions. Float around beautiful Casco Bay with entertainment by Amrit x Collin and God.Damn.Chan at the craziest party so far this summer. If you’re too late to board the boat and they leave you behind, head over to Rhum Food & Grog to exercise your freedom with complimentary Vespertino Tequila tasting at their Vespertino Summer Party. While you’re at Rhum try their Vespertino infused desserts and their brand new specialty Vespertino cocktails. Dj Hi-Duke will be there spinning some tunes so bring your dancing shoes!
On Friday celebrate summer with craft beer and hand shucked oysters at Rising Tide Brewery’s Beer & Oyster event. O’Oysters will be there from 4-7 serving up a taste of Maine summer. Once you have had your fill of oysters make your way over to Merrill Auditorium to see American magician, illusionist and endurance artist, David Blaine. David Blaine has revolutionized magic and mesmerized audiences unlike any other performer of his kind, this is a must-see show! After the show head over to Slab for a hand slab and music by ZEME LIBRE.
Saturday kicks off in Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood at the Inner Washington Block Party. Bring the whole family to this free event! There will be live music from Red Eyed Fox & Muddy Ruckus and food from Portland’s newest food and beverage destination. Take plenty of selfies while you’re
there and use the hashtag #findyourinnerwashinton. If you missed running with Old Port Pub Run on Thursdaymake sure to participate in the Craft Brew Races. Meet us at Payson Park at noon and enjoy 47 local and regional brews. The race consists of a 5k around Back Cove followed by a brew festival. Not into 5ks? Don’t worry, beer fest only and designated driver tickets are also available. Leave the kids at home for this one, this is a 21+ event.
Keep the party going on Sunday with Slightly Stoopid Live in Portland, Sounds of Summer 2017 at the Maine State Pier. The show starts at 3:30 and goes all day! Don’t miss this show, tickets are only $45. If you want to see some live music, but want to relax in a smaller venue, Slab has you covered. The Dapper Gents will be on the patio from 3-6 so grab a beer and some pizza and hang out for a while.
Unless you’re celebrating your freedom with a four day weekend its back to work on Monday, but you resume partying on Tuesday for the 4th of July! The Stars and Stripes Spectacular is Maine’s largest 4th of July celebration. Opening ceremony starts at 7, but spend the day on the east end.
